Our Mission

Established in 2025, SMRC Community Engagement Office (COMEO) fosters meaningful relationships between the researchers and the broader community.

By actively engaging with diverse partners, including healthcare professionals, local organizations, residents, and policymakers, we ensure that research is relevant, inclusive, and benefits the community. We work together to create and share knowledge in primary care, older adult care, cancer care and surgery.

Knowledge Translation & Knowledge Mobilization

At the Community Engagement Office (COMEO), we're dedicated to supporting research that puts people and communities at the heart of health solutions, especially those with lived experience, by encouraging equity, diversity and inclusion.

We work to build strong, lasting partnerships that bring local health priorities into research. By working together, we co-create evidence-based projects that are culturally relevant and truly meet community needs.

Our knowledge sharing efforts aim to deliver the right health information, in the right way, to the people who need it most.

Our approach supports capacity building—for both researchers and community partners—and includes collaboration with health care leaders and policymakers.

Together, we aim to improve health outcomes and drive meaningful change.
